भई माना इसने भूल से बुलवाया तो था ;
यूं उसने भेजा ही क्यों ; सब जानता तो था ?
हमने पूछा न बतलाया !
अब तीर चला तो ही तो जिगर के पार हुआ ;
क्या खता थी? क्यों ,किसने चलाया ?
हमने पूछा न बतलाया !
फिर वो नामुमकिन ,बेबस , मासूम सा ख्याल ;
अबके आया भी तो सौत बनके आया ?
हमने पूछा न बतलाया !
यूं बेख़बर दामन का छुड़ाना ,सपनों में रोज़ मनाना ;
तो फिर वो रूठे ही क्यों?
हमने पूछा न बतलाया !
अब कैसे कोई किसको समझाये कि ऐसी कुर्बतों के बाद ,
क्या अजनबी बनना मुमकिन है?
हमने पूछा न बतलाया !

Yoon usne bheja hi kyon ; Sab janta to tha ?

Ab teer chala to hi to jigar ke paar hua ;
Kya khata thi? Kyon ,Kisne Chalaya ?

Fir vo namumkin ,bebas , masoom sa khayal ;
Abke aaya bhi to saut ban ke aaya ?

Yoon bekhabar daman ka chhudana ,sapnon me roz manana ;
To fir vo ruthe hi kyon?

Ab kayse koi kisko samjaye ki aisee kurbaton ke baad ,
Kya ajnabi bannna mumkin?
